Building research communities should be more than just an expectation of being a professor — I sincerely think it is an opportunity to create spaces for not only researchers to share ideas, but also for students to learn to become the next generation of scholars. Here I share my continual activity to build and connect, and I invite you to do the same.

Software Engineering at Montréal (SEMTL) — Aug. 2022 to Present
I am the lead organizer of the SEMTL research seminar series, which brings together software engineering professors and students from the six major Montréal research institutions approximately every two months. SEMTL aims to disseminate research ideas throughout the local community, foster collaborations, advertise opportunities, and socialize — and to give students a chance to practice their communication skills before a supportive audience. SEMTL has also helped multiple PhD students and post-doctoral researchers from the community find their next position.
Since 2022, SEMTL has held nineteen meetings with an average of 30 to 40 participants, featuring keynotes from top SE researchers and dozens of student presentations. We have also produced a paper published at MODELS 2024
